PROCESSION FOR END TIMES II: THE ICE SHELF & THE COMING SILENCE
In 2020, TRAction decided to make the Procession for End Times an annual event that would mark the parts of nature we are losing. TRAction’s second annual Procession for End Times was an homage to the last Canadian Ice Shelf as well as a larger reflection on the possibility of human extinction. Commemorating the Milne Ice Shelf via a 10-foot tall fabric replica that was carried with great effort by volunteers along Memorial Drive, the procession culminated in a performance of The Coming Silence by kloetzel&co. at a ‘secret’ location on Prince’s Island Park.

Procession for End Times: The Ice Shelf and The Coming Silence examined the passage of humanity into an era of threat, an era that will question the assumed divisions we place between ourselves and the many species and types of matter that support human life on this planet. With support from the Canada Council for the Arts, The Coming Silence offered an eerie taxidermic display that commented on the larger notion of human extinction, whether through viral, climatic or ecological means.
