DECOLONIAL TOOLKIT RESIDENCY
TRAction, with support from Canada Council for the Arts’ Strategic Innovation Fund and the Empire of Dirt Residency program, is pleased to announce its newest project. The project - Activating TRAction's Decolonial Toolkit - brings together artists from diverse backgrounds, disciplines and geographical locations to consider how to deepen and broaden the impact of the Toolkit both personally and sectorially.
The Decolonial Toolkit for Climate Artists, which launched in November 2023 and is now freely available through a number of resource-sharing sites, is a straightforward document intended to help artists consider the intersections between the arts, colonialism and climate change. It was authored by TRAction’s Indigenous Advisory Council, with support from the TRAction co-directors and the Community Connectors from the Climate Art Web.
This new two-part project - consisting of zoom sessions and an in-person residency at Empire of Dirt in Creston, BC - enjoys co-facilitation by Cole Alvis and Donna-Michele St. Bernard and will include artists Raven Davis, Aria Evans, Melanie Kloetzel (project lead), Adjani Poirier, Nicole Schafenacker, and Marnie Temple (project co-lead).
